The Biobank of Andalusia presents its portfolio of services to the scientific community

The Biobank of the Andalusian Health System makes its wide and versatile portfolio of services available to the scientific community, in order to provide a public service that meets the needs of researchers. To achieve this, the SSPA Biobank has a multidisciplinary team of specialist professionals who carry out their work in the different areas offered in the service portfolio.

This portfolio includes the provision of biological samples and their associated data, in the format that the research staff needs, and guaranteeing their quality and conservation. In addition, it offers biological sample processing services which are structured in specialized units to guarantee comprehensive support for research projects.

• The cell lines unit is responsible for the development, establishment and characterization of cell lines of different nature and the quality control of organoids.
• The genetic and biomarker quality control unit constituted by the molecular biology area where the isolation and quality control of nucleic acids from different types of biological samples, the detection of biomarkers in liquid samples and the control are carried out. quality of cell lines and the area of cytogenetics that carries out the determination of the genetic status of cells and the checking of genetic stability throughout the process of cell generation, expansion and differentiation.
• The sample stabilization and biorepository unit is responsible for preserving the integrity and stability of biological samples for subsequent analysis.
• The histological quality control unit performs the techniques derived from the activity of phenotypic and histological characterization of cells and tissues, as well as the digitization and quantification of biomarkers. Additionally, they also offer sample preservation and custody services, advisory and training services, as well as tailored services to meet the more specific requirements of research personnel.
