Third face-to-face meeting of the LiquiDx project consortium
The LiquiDx consortium held its third annual coordination meeting on 31 October 2024 at the Leitat facilities in the Barcelona Science Park. The meeting reviewed the progress of the project towards the development of an RNA-based blood diagnostic tool that allows the detection ofearly detection of five types of cancer: lung, colon, breast, prostate and pancreas.
The highlights of the meeting were as follows:
- Sample collection and processing: The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (BBSSPA) has delivered 1,029 high-quality plasma samples to Flomics.
- Increased labo capacityrandom: Flomics, with the support of Leitat, significantly expanded its wet laboratory capabilities, with 756 samples processed to libraries (of which 564 sequenced) in the last six months alone.
- Advanced bioinformatics pipeline: The bioinformatics team has put into production a robust, scalable and reproducible analysis pipelineble. They have performed 196 analyses (including debugging) and processed raw data exceeding 3.09 TiB from 600 samples.
These advances underscore the consortium's commitment to revolutionizing early cancer detection and accelerating the success of the diagnostic project.
It is important to highlight that this line of work is part of the LiquiDx project, coordinated by Flomics Biotech, in which the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) and Leitat Technological Center participate. The project is associated with the action with action file number CPP2021-008897, which is funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union "NextGenerationEU/PRTR", through the 2021 call for grantsto public-private collaboration projects of the State Research Agency.
