The course ‘Basic theoretical and practical foundations of cytogenetics and flow cytometry’ reaches its ninth edition

The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia has organized a new edition, and there are now nine, of the course ‘Basic theoretical and practical foundations of cytogenetics and flow cytometry’.

This training activity focuses on the theoretical and practical bases that define the cytogenetics and flow cytometry techniques applied to the characterizationof multipotent and pluripotent stem cells. With this course you will learn the methodology of both technologies and their needs; good practices in their application and in the laboratory; the identification of the most common errors and the resolution of problems.

The course is aimed at people with a bachelor's degree in Life Sciences who have an interest in the field ofcell therapy. Through it they will be able to acquire a theoretical knowledge of the different cell types, characteristics, function and usefulness in biomedical research and clinical application. In addition, they will learn about the latest developments in the field of stem cells and state-of-the-art technologies in genomic engineering. Finally, students will acquire skillsto characterize these cells using cytogenetics and flow cytometry.

This face-to-face training takes place between 19 and 21 February at the Biobank coordinator node (located in the PTS of Granada). To date, there are already more than 150 professionals trained in these cell characterization techniques through this specific course.

El Biobank of the SSPA is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, which constitutes a support platform for research specialized in the collection, processing and storage of human biological samples and their associated data, to make them available to the scientific community, thus providing a public service meeting the needs of researchers.
