INIBICA brings health research to the streets of Algeciras in Diverciencia 2025
Science comes out of the laboratories and is installed in the heart of Algeciras on the occasion of the 19th edition of Diverciencia, and the Institute of Biomedical Research and Innovation of Cadiz (INiBICA) did not want to miss this great event with the public. During the 8th and 9th of May, the INiBICA stand in the Plaza Alta becomes in a dynamic, participatory space full of curiosity for all ages.
The deputy delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in the Campo de Gibraltar, Francisco Javier Ros, participated in the opening of the event and visited the stand of the Cádiz Institute.
INiBICA's proposal for this year is clear: to bring biomedical research closer in an entertaining and understandable. To achieve this, several interactive activities have been prepared led by professionals from the Institute itself:
Innovation and knowledge transfer game, coordinated by Paula Castro, a technician from the Office of Knowledge Transfer (OTC), where participants discover how a scientific idea becomes a practical application and protected.
An activity for all ages to learn about the structure of DNA, a delicious and educational activity organized by María del Carmen Montelongo, Biobank Technique of the SSPA Node Cádiz-INIBICA, which uses gummies to explain the structure of DNA in a visual and fun way.
Role play on clinical trials, by Eva Andría, technique of the Unit of Clinical Research Management, which guides attendees through different real situations to explain how new treatments are tested safely and rigorously.
Scientific career and professional opportunities, an activity where Lourdes Rodríguez (project management technician) and Laura Jaramillo (central services technician) guide young people and families on how to get to work in health research and what pathways exist beyond the laboratory.
These proposals are part of INiBICA's commitment to scientific dissemination, the formation of future vocations and the strengthening of the link between science and society.
As a starting point, the manager of INIBICA, Julio Manuel Ríos de la Rosa, was in charge of offering the presentation event on May 7, in an act that officially welcomed this new edition of Diverciencia. In his speech, he conveyed to the audience his professional career, highlighted the importance of building bridges between science and citizenship, the local impact and future project that INiBICA is for the province of Cádiz and promoting a "scientific culture from early ages. "
INiBICA invites the entire population of Algeciras and the surrounding area to join this festival of science, where playing, learning and participating is the best formula to build a future with more knowledge and health.
