The Andalusian Biobank incorporates a virtual catalogue of samples in its‘ Investigator Portal ’
The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) has implemented various functions in its‘ Investigator Portal ’with the aim of improving and streamlining the efforts that scientists make with bioresources for the development of their research.
Specifically, a virtual catalogue of samples has been created and associated data through which researchers can check availability and process their request electronically. This service also allows you to save queries that are made as a historical archive, as well as make temporary reservations of samples. The virtual catalogue of samples and data can be consulted from the Biobank website, where the search engine offers aggregate results of available samples.
In addition, the ‘Investigator Portal’ has implemented the possibility of telematically making requests for samples and data or other processing, custody, training and advisory services.
From this portal, researchers can track applications made to the Biobank, they can view in detail information related to the project documentation, including the status of the procedures with the External Scientific and Ethical Committee of the Biobank.
These procedures are carried out interactively thanks to the Biobank's information management system, which ranges from the coordinating node in Granada to all the nodes and healthcare centres where it has presence. This system, called nSIBAI, allows the comprehensive management of biological samples and their associated data and the registration and traceability of the documentary processing necessary for requests for biological samples or other Biobank services.
The SSPA Biobank seeks to improve and streamline the process of providing the services offered, facilitating the consultation of available samples and the processing of requests and monitoring of their status.
The SSPA Biobank is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs that constitutes a research support platform and that specializes in the collection, processing and storage of human biological samples and their associated data to put them to readiness of the scientific community.
In the first half of 2025, it provided a total of 10,205 samples to the scientific community for biomedical R&D and Health Sciences.
