A training session will showcase the activity of the Biobank to healthcare professionals
The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia has launched the fourth edition of a basic training course aimed primarily at health professionals in the clinical field.
This online activity, for which accreditation has been requested as continuous training, is held tomorrow, October 8, and the registration, which is free, can be done through this link.
Thus, experts from the SSPA Biobank will present aspects related to its structure, the activity they carry out, the basic procedures and its usefulness as a biorepository for both health care and biomedical research.
The training aims to show the operation of the SSPA Biobank in general, as well as present its strategic lines in infectious diseases, hematological oncological diseases and rare diseases. Similarly, the objective of this course is also to make known the current legislation applicable to the collection and use of human biological samples or their associated data for research biomedical, as well as training health professionals in concepts and procedures related to the collection, registration, traceability, processing and conservation of biological samples, within the framework of the quality management system of the SSPA Biobank.
In addition to these aspects, its service portfolio, which includes provision of samples and data, will be specifically discussed; sample processing; preservation and biorepository; and training. There will also be space to publicize the Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, a high-value initiative for the development of R&D projects.
The SSPA Biobank is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Consumption, which constitutes a platform to support research specialized in the collection, processing and storage of human biological samples and their associated data, to make them available to the scientific community, thus providing a public service meeting the needs of researchers.
In the year 2024, more than 90,000 samples of oncological, infectious and parasitic diseases, diseases mental, cardiovascular, respiratory, genitourinary, etc., as well as healthy patients, using more than 58,800 of them in research and teaching projects.
