The Biobank launches the tenth edition of its stem cell characterization course

The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia has become a benchmark in quality training applied to the biomedical field. In this regard, it has launched the tenth edition of the course ‘Basic, theoretical and practical foundations of cytogenetics and flow cytometry’, which has already been attended by around 200 professionals.

This training activity will be held from March 11 to 13 and is especially suitable for those who are interested in working in the field of stem cells and require this knowledge of cell characterization for their performance. It will be developed in the Biobank coordinator node, located in the Health Technology Park, in Granada.

The course aims to show the theoretical and practical bases that define the cytogenetics and flow cytometry techniques applied to the characterization of embryonic, mesenchymal and reprogrammed stem cell types (hMSCs, hESCs and iPSCs). Through theoretical content and with the individualized development of a practical part, students will be able to know the methodology of both technologies used and good practices in their application. Likewise, they will acquire knowledge of good laboratory practices, the identification of the most common errors, the needs of each of the techniques, the optimization of their use, and the resolution of problems.

Among other topics, during the course we will talk about animal models in the stem cell research; of the CRISP system and the limitations of genomic engineering; or of the generation of retinal organoids from pluripotent stem cells.

Registration for this training activity is open and free. It can be formalized through this link.
