The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia and all its provincial nodes have renewed the AENOR certificate, thus supporting their commitment to quality and excellence. This certificate accredits the excellent conditions of its quality management system in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 standard on quality management system requirements.
The evaluation of the audit carried out has focused on determining the conformity of the organization's quality management system in line with the evaluation criteria; assess that it complies with applicable legal, regulatory and contractual requirements; and, finally, determine the effectiveness of the quality management system to ensure the proper functioning of the services offered to its users.
Among the aspects that have been assessed are the provision of services for the provision, custody and processing of blood products or derivatives, tissues, substances or biological samples of human origin, and human pluripotent stem cell lines, for use in research and teaching; technical advice on management of human samples for research; the design and delivery of training in the area of biomedical research; and the Registry of donors of biological samples for biomedical research.
This recognition confirms the will of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia to develop in a line of progress to provide a more adjusted response every day to the expectations of researchers and users of the public health system, and likewise, offer a quality service. quality to its users.
The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia
The SSPA Biobank is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, which constitutes a platform to support research specialized in obtaining, processing and storing human biological samples and their associated data, to make them available to the scientific community. thus providing a public service meeting the needs of researchers.
Since 2020, it has received 13,519 new donors with oncological, infectious and parasitic diseases, mental, cardiovascular, respiratory, genitourinary diseases, etc., as well as healthy patients who are used as controls. These new donors have given rise to 51,740 donations that have involved 165,098 samples used in research and teaching projects.
Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors
The Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research is a tool that allows citizens to participate directly in the development of biomedical research through the altruistic donation of biological samples. Currently, it has 3,467 registered participants, thanks to which more than twenty research projects are being developed.
