The Biobanks for biomedical research purposes are newly created research support platforms, specializing in the collection, processing and storage of human biological samples and their associated data, to make them available to the scientific community, thus promoting biomedical research. With this course we intend to raise awareness of Biobanks in order to biomedical research to the clinical and research community, with the main objective of making them aware of its usefulness and being able to provide them with a public service to meet their needs.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
General Objectives
Acquire specific training on the concept, operation and regulation of Biobanks and the handling of human biological samples for biomedical research.
Specific Objectives
- Know the Biobanks, their structure, organization, operation and activity developed by them.
- Understand the authorization process for the establishment and operation of Biobanks for biomedical research purposes, as well as the applicable regulations on Biobanks.
- Study the regulations applicable to the use of human biological samples and/or their associated data for biomedical research and know the importance of informed consent as a tool to safeguard the rights of donors.
- Identify and understand the concepts and procedures related to the collection, registration, traceability, processing, storage, packaging and transport of biological samples.
- Know the different management systems, through recognized quality models, both general and specific to Biobanks, as well as the definition of their criteria and evaluation and certification models.
- Describe the steps that must be carried out, as well as the documentation to successfully implement and maintain a quality management system quality.
