XVII Andalusian Volunteer Congress

The Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, through the General Secretariat of Families, Equality, Gender Violence and Diversity, is organizing the XVII Andalusian Congress of Volunteering. This edition has as its motto “Generating Solidarity” and its purpose is to generate a meeting place to share experiences and to give visibility to the great work carried out by the associative volunteer movement in Andalusia. It will be held next Monday, June 16, 2024, at the Andalusia Science Park in Granada.
The Andalusian Congress of Volunteering was created with the aim of opening a common space for all those people linked to social movements and volunteering.
In this new edition, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia will participate with an information table where it will present to all interested parties the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research and will invite them to form part of said Registry.

Online Technology Meeting: Twinning program between Technology Parks

Within the framework of the twinning program between technology parks of the Association of Technology Parks of Spain (APTE), PTS Granada and the Garaia Technology Park have organized an online business meeting, to which the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia has been invited .
One of the main objectives of this meeting is to generate opportunities for collaboration and development between companies from both business ecosystems, building a solid network of intercooperation.
I International ALS Congress “Manolo Barrós”

On June 20 and 21, professionals from the Biobank of the Andalusian Public Health System of the Coordinating Node, the Provincial Node of Almería and the Provincial Node of Córdoba, as well as the Brain Bank of Córdoba, have been invited to participate in the I International Congress on ALS “Manolo Barrós” to be held in Almería.
The event Organized by the CIEN Foundation (Center for Research on Neurological Diseases), financed by the Reina Sofía Foundation, and in collaboration with the Almería City Council and the Provincial Council of the province, aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences, as well as how to promote research and raise awareness in society about the reality of this pathology.
Assistance is open to researchers, health professionals, patient associations and families affected by ALS. However, registration is required to attend.
Webminar at the National Federation of ALCER Associations

The National Federation of ALCER Associations, through the research and clinical trials working group, is organizing a series of webinars with the aim of informing patients about the scientific activity related to chronic kidney disease that is being carried out. in Spain.
The SSPA Biobank will participate in this cycle of webinars, presenting the role of biobanks in biomedical research. Likewise, he will talk about the Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research as a model of citizen participation in biomedical research in Andalusia, through the donation of human biological samples and their associated data.

In commemoration of World No Tobacco Day, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia will participate in an information day that will take place at the OPPLUS company.
OPPLUS is a business process consulting company that is committed to health, promoting healthy living and protecting future generations. This dedication has led her to organize this information day.
Professionals from the Malaga Provincial Node of the SSPA Biobank have prepared a series of informative posters that will be displayed at the company headquarters and will also present the Biobank and the Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research. In addition, they will talk about organoids as a new preclinical model under development in research and about the work being done in this regard at the Biobank.
The day will culminate with the conference 'Research against smoking: Personalized medicine for cancer', given by Dr. Elisabeth Pérez, an oncologist specializing in head and neck cancer.
I Conference on Applied Anatomy

The SSPA Biobank has been invited to participate in the I Conference on Applied Anatomy organized by the Fray Luis de Granada Secondary Education Institute. This event, aimed at the educational and scientific community, consists of a series of presentations on the monographs developed during the course by the students of “Applied Anatomy”, a 1st year high school subject taught by the aforementioned professor.
The initiative has the support and participation of various experts in the field of study of the topics addressed, which gives additional entity and relevance to the project. The SSPA Biobank will be represented by Dr. Purificación Catalina, an expert in stem cells in the Coordinating Node, who will offer a presentation on stem cells and the National Bank of Cell Lines.
Participation in the Studies in Spain program

During the month of May, the Coordinating Node of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will receive the visit of students from the universities of Samford and Florida, as part of the "Studies in Spain" program in which the University of Granada participates. . During the visit, they will have the opportunity to learn how the biobank works, explore its facilities and participate in a practical class on the management of biological samples using the Biobank information system.
XII Science Fair on Jerez Street

The Science Fair on Jerez Street is an educational event that includes recreational aspects that aims to communicate to citizens the science that is carried out in educational centers, research centers and companies through its main actors (students, teachers, researchers and entrepreneurs) while promoting relationships between all sectors involved.
In the 2024 edition, the dissemination phase will take place in person on April 16, 17 and 18. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will participate with a stand where they will carry out different scientific experiences and inform attendees of the importance of donating biological samples and clinical data for Biomedical research.
I Jornada Biomed&Tech Talks

On April 9, the Scientific Director of the SSPA Biobank, Dr. José Manuel Puerta, will present the SSPA Biobank at the I Biomed&Tech Talks Conference that will be held in the assembly hall of the San Cecilio University Hospital in Granada. This is a high-level event on Biomedicine and Biotechnology that aims to give regional, national and international visibility to the latest advances by researchers, laboratories and health professionals.

Alzheimer's Solidarity Market

The San Rafael Alzheimer Association organizes one more year its traditional Solidarity Market, which will be held at the San Felipe Neri Oratory in Córdoba from March 14 to 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
On this occasion, the Córdoba Provincial Node of the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will be present at the event through an information stand. The professionals from the SSPA Biobank will share with attendees the importance of donating samples for research, and will invite those interested to register in the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, a pioneering initiative in Spain led by the SSPA Biobank. to participate in biomedical research through the voluntary donation of biological samples and/or data.
