Participation in the Conference of the ISCIII R&D Support Platforms
From 27 to 29 October, the city of Salamanca hosted the third edition of the Platforms Conference ISCIII to support R&D in Biomedicine and Health Sciences, organized by the ISCIII Platform for Biomodels and Biobanks (P_ISCIII_BB), the ISCIII ITEMAS Platform and the ISCIII SCReN Platform.
The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) had an outstanding participation during the event, presenting five works in poster format and actively collaborating in various round tables.
On behalf of the Biobank, Rocío Aguilar spoke as a speaker at the table "Ethics, regulation and innovation: from biomodels to personalized medicine", while Juan David Rejón moderated, together with Sonia Camaño, the table "Citizenship that drives science".
These days are consolidated as a reference space to share experiences, strengthen the collaboration between platforms and promote innovation in the field of biomedical research.
Upcoming training activities
During the month of November, the SSPA Biobank will hold the II Edition of the course "Support structures for biomedical research", on November 19 and 26.
The course, in a blended modality, combines a theoretical part with a practical session in the facilities of the SSPA Biobank at the Regional University Hospital of Malaga.
course is free, has 2.42 credits from the Andalusian Health Quality Agency (ACSA) and offers 25 places for SAS staff.

Also, in December, the Biobank will offer the first edition of the course "From vial to crop: Good practices for use and maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) in research", to be held on 3 and 4 December.
This course aims to provide essential knowledge on the regulatory framework and good practices for the use and maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), ensuring their safe and efficient application in research biomedical.
The training combines a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part will be freely accessible and free of charge via face-to-face or streaming, prior pre-registration until full capacity is reached. The practice will be individualized.
Aimed at predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers, as well as emerging researchers in the biosanitary field. This course offers 12 places and is located in accreditation process by the ACSA.
The pre-registration period is open and ends on November 18. Check out the program and sign up at: https://www.juntadeandalucia.es/salud/biobanco/es/un-banco-para-formar/cursos/curso-teorico-practico-del-vial-al-cultivo-buenas-practicas-para-laIf

International Symposium on Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects of New European Legislation
On October 22 and 23, professionals from the SSPA Biobank attended the Ethical, Legal, and Societal Aspects in View of Recent EU Legislation symposium, held in Bilbao and organized by BBMRI-ERIC, the University of the Basque Country, the University of Milan-Bicocca and the ISCIII Platform for Biomodels and Biobanks.
This meeting has been consolidated as a space for reflection and exchange of knowledge on ethical, legal and social aspects (ELSI) related to health data, biobanks and new European legislation.
During the sessions, ethics experts, law, philosophy, social sciences and art analysed the main challenges and opportunities posed by the responsible management and use of health data and biobanks in the current European regulatory context.
XII Sjögren's Syndrome Outreach and Scientific Day
One more year, professionals from the Provincial Node of Malaga of the SSPA Biobank have participated in the XII Scientific and Dissemination Conference on Sjögren's Syndrome organized by the Andalusian Association of Sjögren's Syndrome at the convention centre of the Medical Association of Malaga. During the meeting, they reported on the importance of donating samples for research and the crucial role that biobanks play in current biomedical research. In addition, they have invited attendees to register with the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Research Biomedical.
Solidarity race: ‘We run for Multiple Sclerosis’
The Association Grenadian Multiple Sclerosis has organized the race ‘We Run for Multiple Sclerosis’. In this edition, professionals of the SSPA Biobank Coordinating Node have participated in the race and have installed an information point where they have conveyed the importance of the donation of biological samples and their associated data for the advancement in the research of the disease.
Success of the ‘IV edition of the Biobank Webinar of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical setting’
More than 100 professionals from health centers throughout Andalusia, researchers and students from the health area have participated in the IV Edition of the Biobank Webinar of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical field. This day, organized by the SSPA Biobank in collaboration with IAVANTE, has allowed attendees to learn about the operation and services of the SSPA Biobank and the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research. This day has been accredited with 0.2 credits of continuous training by the General Secretariat of Public Health and R&D in Health of the Ministry of Health and Consumption of the Junta de Andalucía.
