Science Week is the largest event for scientific dissemination held annually in Europe. During these weeks, universities, research centres, companies, museums, botanical gardens, and in general knowledge agents, organize a multitude of activities (seminars, round tables, conferences, visits, open days...) aimed at all citizens, with the aim of conveying that research, scientific and technological development and innovation have a positive impact on society, promoting its development. growth and development.

The general objective of the event is to encourage citizen participation in issues related to Science and Technology, to bring scientific culture closer to society and to show it the main inventions and innovations that are being carried out in various fields.

In this new edition, the SSPA Biobank will organize guided tours of its facilities, virtual talks and Con-Ciencia coffees in the different provinces of Andalusia in order to publicize the Biobank and the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research. as tools to participate directly in biomedical research.

XII Informative and Scientific Conference on Sjögren's Syndrome

Date : October 25, 2025

Location :  illustrious Official College of Physicians of Malaga

On October 25, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia will participate in the 12th Scientific and Informative Conference on Sjögren's Syndrome organized by the Andalusian Association of Sjögren's Syndrome. During the conference, Biobank professionals will explain to those attending the event the the role that the biobank plays in current medical research and will present the Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research as a tool for citizen participation in biomedical research.

Theoretical-practical foundations in cell cultures Blended modality

Date: From October 20 to November 28

Location: Blended.

The Theoretical-Practical Fundamentals in Cell Cultures course, blended modality, aims to provide specialized training in the field of cell cultures, providing participants with theoretical/practical knowledge about equipment, techniques and types of cultures, as well as their various applications.

The methodology of the course is mixed, with online theory and in-person practices at the facilities of the Coordinating Node of the Biobank of the Andalusian Public Health System in Granada.

The course is aimed at graduates or graduates in Health Sciences, senior technicians in clinical and biomedical laboratories, senior technicians in Pathological Anatomy and cytodiagnosis, and laboratory technicians in general.

The registration deadline is September 26 and the number of places is limited to 24.

IV Edition of the Webminar Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical field

Date: October 8, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Location: Virtual. IAVANTE tele-training platform

The SSPA Biobank organizes the fourth edition of the webminar on October 8 "Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia in the clinical field". The main objective of this webinar is to communicate to professionals of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) general aspects about the concept, operation and regulation of Biobanks for biomedical research purposes.


The webminar will be held virtually through the iAVANTE's teletraining platform and has requested accreditation as a continuous training activity from the General Secretariat of Public Health and Health R&D of the Ministry of Health and Consumption of the Junta de Andalucía, according to the criteria of the Continuing Education Commission of the National Health System.

European Researchers' Night @s 2025

Date: September 26, 2025

Place: Almeria, Granada and Malaga.

One more year, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia, through the Progreso y Salud Foundation, will participate in the European Researchers' Night.

This year, the event celebrates its 14th edition and will take place in all the Andalusian provinces and in almost 400 European cities simultaneously on September 26. On this occasion, the SSPA Biobank will be present in emblematic enclaves of Andalusia, the Mirador de la Rambla, in Almería, Plaza del Rey de San Fernando, Cádiz, the Paseo del Parque, in Málaga and the Paseo del Salón, in Granada. In these the professionals of the SSPA Biobank will hold workshops, experiences,... that will bring citizens closer in a playful and fun way to what research biobanks are and the role they play in biomedical research as well as the importance of the donation of biological samples and data for research.

Fourth Edition of the workshop on ethical and legal aspects of the management and use of human biological samples in projects

Date: September 25, 2025 from 10:00a.m. to 13:00h

Place: IMIBIC Assembly Hall, Córdoba

One more year the Biobank of the SSPA together with the Institute of Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC) organizes the workshop "Ethical and legal aspects of the management and use of human biological samples in research projects". In this edition the workshop will be in a face-to-face format and will be held at the iMIBIC auditorium during September 25.

The workshop is free of charge and requires accreditation through the Andalusian Health Quality Agency (ACSA).

Blood and Plasma Donation

Date: June 12, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Place: Palacio de congresos de Granada

On the occasion of International Blood Donor Day, the Transfusion, Tissue and Cell Center of Granada - under the Ministry of Health and Consumption of the Junta de Andalucía - organizes the great summer collection under the slogan "Donate blood, donate plasma. Together we save lives.”


This action is part of the ‘Summer solidarity’, an initiative that aims to strengthen blood reserves for the summer months, while promoting regular and altruistic donation among citizens.

The collection will take place on Thursday, June 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Palacio de Congresos de Granada.

During the day, the Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia (SSPA) will be present with an information stand, where attendees will be invited to be part of the Andalusian Registry of Sample Donors for Biomedical Research, thus promoting citizen participation in projects of research.

Science Fair 2025 Jerez de la Frontera

Date: April 8, 2025

Place: Cloisters of Santo Domingo, Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz)

The Science Fair of Jerez de la Frontera is an initiative developed by the CEP of Jerez with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for the Science and Technology - Ministry of Science and Innovation, as well as other public and private organizations.

In this edition, the fair will be held on April 8, 9 and 10 in the cloisters of Santo Domingo, and the Provincial Node of Cadiz of the SSPA Biobank will be present on April 8. During the day, your professionals will share with the attendees the importance of donation of biological samples for the advancement of science and will carry out various scientific experiences.

Course on Brain and Retinal Organoids Derived from Pluripotent Stem Cells

Date: March 27 and 28, 2025 at 9:00 am

Location: Inve Centerstigation, Technology and Innovation of the University of Seville (CITIUS)

The Biobank of the Public Health System of Andalusia and the Center for Research, Technology and Innovation of the University of Seville (CITIUS) organize the course on ‘Brain and retinal organoids derived from pluripotent stem cells’.

This course, which will be held on March 27 and 28, 2025,in-person modality, aims to provide theoretical and practical training on the generation, maintenance, characterization and use of different biomodels, including retinal and brain organoids derived from human pluripotent stem cells. In addition, the good laboratory practices necessary for its correct handling will be addressed.

The course led by Investipredoctoral and postdoctoral consultants in biosanitary areas, personnel from the biosanitary field, interested in working in the field of pluripotent stem cells (PSC) and organoids of the central nervous system, will be carried out at the facilities of the Center for Research, Technology and Innovation of the University of Seville (CITIUS) and has the accreditation of the Quality AgencyHealth of Andalusia.

IV Meeting of Nurses and Patients: A space for dialogue to advance research and health ethics

Date: March 20, 2025

Place: Assembly Hall of Hospital San Rafael, Granada

On March 20, the College of Nurses of Granada and the Platform of Patient Associations of Granada organize the IV Meeting of Nurses and Patients at the Hospital of San Rafael. This event will serve as a space for dialogue to strengthen research and ethics in the health field.

During the day, healthcare professionals and patients will share experiences and reflect on the importance of health care research. In addition, experts from the Biobank Coordinator Node will address the relevance of sample donation for research and the fundamental role of the patient in the Sample Donor Registry for Biomedical Research.
